Levine And Dale Interviewed at BookExpo, America

Arthur Levine and Jim Dale, American editor and audiobook narrator of the Potter series respectively, appeared at BookExpo America yesterday. Newsday caught up with them and posted interviews with the two in their blog. While they didn't reveal anything new, they did drop a few very vague hints. Some would consider his comments slightly spoiler-ish, so highlight in between the arrows below to read:--> Alas, I was less successful wheedling any information about the new Harry Potter from the book’s editor, Arthur Levine. “There’s a new character named Maclaggen,” he said, and spelled the name. And ...? And nothing. Levine clammed up. Jim Dale had mentioned yesterday that somebody dies. True? “I can neither confirm nor deny.” Does Harry have a girlfriend? “I can’t say ... He’s definitely growing up in all areas of his life.” Later, he said he didn’t experience this book to be as dark as the last, though the overall arc of the series is that the “world is getting more pernicious (dangerous).” This one, he said, “has more romance in general.” And then he and marketing VP Jennifer Pasanen, who was sitting in, started humming “Love is in the air.” Well, it’s a clue. <--

Did Anyone Spot This Mistake?

At the second to last page of the Scholastic Paperback version of CoS, it says a bit about the third book, PoA . " Harry Potter has to sneak back to his third year at Hogwarts after accidentally inflating his horrible Aunt Petunia". But how could that be. As we all know that Harry inflated his horrible Aunt Marge.

Random Facts About Books 6 & 7

The opening chapter of book 6 was originally planned for the early parts of book 1, perhaps we get a more in-depth story of what happened the night Harry's parents died.
Neither Harry or Voldemort (including Tom Riddle) are the Half-Blood Prince
By the ends of books 6 and 7 "you'll have all the back story you'll need", says JK Rowling, and a prequel will not be necessary
There will be a new Minister of Magic, no more Mr. Fudge.
We will find out what happened to Hagrid's half brother Grawp. He will be a bit more controllable in book 6.
In books 6 and 7 we will find out why Dumbledore trusts Snape.
We will find out what happened to Wormtail AKA Peter Pettigrew
More about the animosity between Snape and Sirius will be revealed in the last 2 books.
JK has said that giving away the form of Snape's boggart and patronus says too much. We'll definitely find out what Snape's worst fear is, and it'll be important.
Hermione and Draco will NOT end up together in book 6 or 7.
We will find out what exactly Dudley saw when he looked at the dementors.
The reason Voldemort and Harry both didn't die when Voldemort tried to kill Harry, will be revealed.
We will see more of Draco's mother, Narcissa Malfoy, now that Lucius is busy.
We'll learn more about Harry's scar in the last 2 books.
Moaning Myrtle will make an appearance again, as will Tonks.
More about Voldemort's birth will be revealed, thus helping us understand why he is so evil.
Muggles begin to notice "more and more odd" occurrences in book 6, says JK.
Harry will tell his dearest friends about the prophecy after it sinks in to him.
We will learn more about Harry's relatives, including his grandparents (though JK says they aren't really important to the story)
During an interview, when JKR was asked in which Hogwarts room she'd like to be for 1 hour, she said it would be a room in which Harry has been before, but doesn't know its importance, Yet. (this could have happened in book 5, but we're unsure)
It's very important in the plot that Harry has his mother's eyes, and that her wand was very good for charms.
Harry's parents' profession will be a big part of the plot.
Something HUGE will be revealed about Lily Potter.

Download a bittorrent client. The official client (about 3.6MB) is pretty basic, Karan recommends Azureus (6.6MB) which requires the JRE (15MB), so that's a good amount of downloading to get a trailor. I recommend Shareaza (3.3MB) which can connect to gnutella2 networks in addition to taking bittorrent links.
Install the client.

Select "run from current location"
Select the destination directory And Voila! The download has started!

In book 4, Hagrid says-I never thought I'd live ter see the the Triwizard Tournament being played again...However we know the Triwizard Tournament hasnt been held since over a century and according to the time calculation in Book 2-Hagrid is in his sixties?
This is because the Chamber of secrets was opened 50 years back -when Hagrid was in his 3rd year at Hogwarts-so he cant possibly have been around to ever have seen a Triwizard tournament

In other matters-What are ur guesses for the 3 chapters of Book 6 which Rowling has revealed?

For all the Muggles out there-the chapter names are Spinners End,Felix Felices and Draco's Detour

I feel that Spinners End is the new Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix and Felix Felicis cud either be the Half-Blood Prince or the new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher..or even both

‘Harry Potter’ inspires inventions

It would seem that the folks over at Microsoft have been reading the Harry Potter books to get ideas. At the Microsoft Techfest, an annual science fair, a digital wall clock with hands for each member of the family instead of numbers made its debut. The hands of the clock point to home, school, work and mobile.
The clock won’t be for sale anytime soon and was designed to expose employees to projects in development.
On another note, researchers and engineers from the University of Pennsylvania have developed a “plamonic cover” which is similar to an invisibility cloak also from the Harry Potter series. This version of the cloak works by preventing objects from reflecting and scattering light.
The development, which works by preventing objects from reflecting and scattering light, could have widespread use in the military as it would be more effective than current stealth technology.
I guess reading and watching Philosopher’s Stone & Chambers of Secrets helps everyone.
